It’s simply THE event for horse lovers: EQUITANA, World Equestrian Fair in Essen. From March 9th to 15th 2023, the entire industry will meet in the city in the Ruhr region. Over 600 exhibitors will be presenting their products and innovations. One of the most important European prizes in equestrian sport is the EQUITANA Innovation Award. Here, the most innovative products of the equestrian market which offer real added value in everyday stable life, safety or sustainability are evaluated and awarded prizes by a jury of experts. And for those who are interested in real added value in their training, the fair is also the right place to be. There is no other event where so many masters and experts of all disciplines give training tips and lessons.
If you think that everything that humans and animals need has been invented in this world, you are mistaken. The applications for the EQUITANA 2023 Innovation Award prove otherwise. For example, an electronic, wireless device for horse care would like to be nominated, a mash feeding station especially for senior horses and an app that enables horse owners to carry out saddle measurements themselves. Systems for electric riding arena maintenance were also submitted, and even artificial intelligence is on its way into the stable. For example, a camera system with AI is able to recognize when a mare begins to foal. These and other highlights will be presented in detail at EQUITANA if they are selected by the jury for the Innovation Award 2023. In any case, they will be presented at the exhibitors’ booths, where a visit is guaranteed to be worthwhile.

No matter whether you ride dressage, show jumping or eventing, feel at home in a western saddle or on a gaited horse or whether you are addicted to working equitation, baroque riding or driving – EQUITANA has something to offer for everybody.
Riding champion Ingrid Klimke will demonstrate how to help young horses grow into their tasks while keeping them motivated. Olympic champion Julia Krajewski will talk about the training methods of her horses, as will dressage icon Isabell Werth and four-time Olympic champion Nicole Uphoff-Selke. The winner of the dressageteam bronze medal at the World Championships in Herning, Benjamin Werndl attaches particular importance to fine riding and harmony with the horse – and the very special partnership between man and animal is Anne Krüger-Degener’s concern.
The live training of professional western trainer Ute Holm-Schäuble is just as worth seeing as the introduction to working equitation with the team of Signum Sattelservice, gaited horse riding with multiple European champion Lisa Schürger or the lesson on driving with professional Claus Luber on the reins.
Trainer and social pedagogue Michael Fischer gives a jumping lesson and Bernd Hackl shows approaches on how to deal with difficult horses.
A very special meeting is offered by the dressage specialists Richard Hinrichs, Bent Branderup, Philippe Karl and Dr. Britta Schöffmann. Here, the different focuses of dressage training, their similarities and differences will be examined. A very exciting comparison.
Training specialist Christoph Hess demonstrates with his students how to listen to the horse and build up understanding for the partner.
Andrea Kutsch, Dr. Vivian Gabor, Yvonne Gutsche, Luuk Teunissen and Katja Schnabel show various aspects of holistic horse training, loading training, leadership and much more.
