OTTO Stable Mat Smart 

Hard to believe but true - it does exist, the perfect way to make your horse feel comfortable in its stall and save on bedding at the same time. The last fact is a real plus point, especially nowadays when straw and the removal of dung are becoming more and more expensive.

We are talking about the OTTO Smart stable mat. The wonder of the seize of 50 x 75 cm weighs just eight kilograms. Special chambers underneath the mat ensure optimal air insulation. This means that the coldness of the floor does not reach the top and the horses are warm even with a small amount of bedding. Bedding is only needed to soak up urine, not to create a warm surface for the horses. The mat is made of 100 percent recycled PVC and is extremely durable.

The structure of the surface is made in a way that it is slip-resistant and sure-footed. Horses can lie down on it and stand up without any problems. The mat yields slightly under load and tendons, ligaments and joints are proven to be treated with care.

Laying the mat is also as easy as it gets. Thanks to the tongue and groove system, the mats are simply hooked into each other - similar to click parquet for the living room. The big advantage is that anyone can do it themselves. No skilled personnel are needed. Simply measure the box, let the OTTO advisors calculate how many mats are needed and order. There is such a narrow gap between the individual elements that moisture hardly has a chance to get through. The surface is laid out in no time at all and if the mats need to be cut to fit the wall of the box, that's no problem either. Simply cut to the required size with a saw and you're done.

When moving into the box for the first time with a new surface, the horses are occasionally a little irritated. The running noise is definitely different than before. Especially with shod horses it sounds "hollow" and much quieter and muffled than when the horses tread on concrete or pavement. However, they get used to it very quickly and obviously find the surface extremely pleasant in a short time. With its thickness of four centimeters, the mat is also particularly robust, easily withstands curious examinations by extensive pawing and does not shift a bit even after a long time.
