The time when long and sunny days are overtaken by the cold and windy evenings – in other words autumn is here. But is it as bad as it sounds? The end of annoying insects and flies

Most of the summer we have been so sick and tired of all the flies irritating us and often causing discomfort for our horses. Now, this is finally over! They are all gone, and we do not have to worry about our horses getting infected eyes, eczema, or about the expensive summer blankets for your horse. As a rider you are also free of mosquito bites, the itchy insanity is finally over! You also do not have to spend all your money on insect spray, fly masks and so on.

No dust

The summer often involves tons of dust in the arena followed by a lot of cleaning of the horse, and irritated lungs both for rider and horse. Now this is finally over, and when it is not too rainy or windy there is nothing better than doing a great dressage or jumping session with your horse in the sunny autumn weather. Or, of course, a good hacking out is also always lovely.

A beautifully trimmed horse

Nothing beats the feeling and sight of a newly trimmed horse. The muscles of the horse appear elegant under all the equipment, and the horse avoids being covered in sweat after a riding session. The best thing is also that we do not have to spend a lot of time trying to dry the horse and handle all the shedding.

Lower temperatures

Autumn means lower and more comfortable riding temperatures. This also means that you can look forward to less sweaty gloves or riding helmets. Remember to appreciate the season now because soon it will be remarkably colder and you have to get all bundled up when you go to the stables.

Blanket time

Even though autumn is the beginning of a more troublesome blanket period, we must also reckon how incredible it is to take your horse inside from the field, take off the blanket and to have an all-clean horse. We have definitely been looking forward to this. So, when you are sick and tired of all the mud during autumn then comfort yourself with the fact that you can get your horse clean faster with the help of a blanket.

Beautiful colors

Autumn is especially known for its beautiful colors. It is quite a sight when all the trees are covered in yellow, brown and orange leaves, and without comparison riding in an autumn forest is worth all the muddy days, cold winters and hot summer. In other words, riding in the autumn colors beats all seasonal hack outs!

Say goodnight in the stable

Many horses have until now been out in the field during the whole day and night. Now they are back in the stable, and even though it can be a bit annoying wandering around in the stable in what feels like the middle of the night because it gets dark so early, it is also very lovely to say goodnight to your horse inside the stable before you leave. It is kind of like getting to tuck in your horse for the night.
