1. KEITH URBAN – HORSES

The first song we have found is simply called Horses. It is sung by Australian country singer Keith Urban – who by the way is married to actress Nicole Kidman. If you do not know his song, you really owe it to yourself to listen to it. With the message of daring to believe in oneself and "let your horses run", it is a real "you can do it" song. It is without a doubt perfect to ride to or hear when you are getting your horse ready.

2. BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN – CHASIN’ WILD HORSE

Bruce Springsteen is without a doubt an old acquaintance, and it is not difficult to imagine the American rock musician with the hoarse voice singing a country-inspired song about horses. But in fact, it has only happened once - in 2019. The now 72-year-old legend sings the quiet song Chasin ’Wild Horses from the album Western Stars, which has also been made into a beautiful Netflix documentary. Enjoy the song for a quiet moment in the stable.

3. KATY PERRY - DARK HORSE

Katy Perry's song Dark Horse is a good solid pop song. It's not too quiet and not too up-beat. You can use it in many different places, whether you are sitting on the horse or walking around and enjoying yourself in the stable. Do we have anyone out there with a pair of dark horses that fit Katy Perry's descriptions?
This was the first song that came to mind, when the editorial team started looking for the most  contemporary song with a relationship to the world of horses.

4. SCISSOR SISTERS - HORSES ONLY

The song Only The Horses made by Scissor Sisters is somewhat more fast-paced. We definitely think you can speed up the polishing or muck out tempo up tremendously if you listen to this horse song. And then we simply love the lyrics in the chorus. Because if there is one thing a horse can do, it is to bring us humans home - both in a direct, physical sense and when it comes to finding oneself mentally.
Only The Horses is a real party song, but can also stur up some big emotions. And then the video is just beautiful. That is why we have given it a place on our list of horse songs.

5. BILLY RAY CYRUS (& LIL NAS X) - OLD TOWN ROAD

Are you into real country music? Then you should definitely take the horse on the road with Billy Ray Cyrus and the song Old Town Road. Unfortunately, the original version is not available on YouTube, so instead we found this popular remix, where Billy is joined by rapper Lil Nas X. The video is actually a whole experience in itself. Fast forward to 01.35 if you want to skip the intro, which is otherwise quite entertaining.
Classic and modern - Old Town Road never goes out of style and continues to remind us that it is just the coolest thing to return to the places you know. Especially on the back of a horse.

6. TAYLOR SWIFT - WHITE HORSE

Another slightly quiet song that you can enjoy when you are in the stable or on the back of the horse is Taylor Swifts White Horse. It is a bit heartbreaking, so do not hear it if you have just had to say goodbye to a friend, boyfriend, pet or your horse. In other words, it's one of the saddest horse songs.
This is probably also one of the less horse-like horse songs, but it should still be on the list as a more sad one.

7. NATASHA BEDINGFIELD - WILD HORSES

The beautiful song Wild Horses by Natasha Bedingfield can evoke emotions right into the very deepest place of any horse lover. It is about daring to face the fear and be free like the wild horses. Whether you already know the song or not, it definitely deserves a (re) listening. Prepare to get the chills. Maybe it could work for a cozy moment with your horse so you can feel right under your skin how much the four-legged friend means to you?

8. RASCAL FLATTS - NO REINS

Riding without reins – or perhaps completely without equipment – seems to be the ultimate feeling of being with the horse. This feeling of freedom is what Rascal Flatts tries to sing his way through in the song No Reins. The song is as optimistic as the year (2000) it was written in. So if you need the feeling of freedom and invincibility with your horse, then you will definitely be happy to hit play.

9. BELINDA CARLISLE - RUNAWAY HORSES

The slightly mature readers may remember the late eighties hit Runaway Horses with Belinda Carlisle. The song is what one could call “a medium tempo horse song” that you can use in just about any setting. With the title of the song in mind, however, we would warn you against letting your horse hear it while you sit on the back of it.
If our four-legged friend could really understand what is being sung in these various horse songs, then this one would probably be most important to keep far away from him.

10. U2 - WHO’S GONNA RIDE YOUR WILD HORSES

If you're into quiet rock in the stable, then U2's song Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses is a pretty good choice. Have a cup of coffee or tea with your stable mates and enjoy this song in the background. It is certainly not bad to hum along to if you are sitting with piles of equipment to be polished and you need to make sense of it all. After all, your equipment must be tip-top if you are to ride a pair of "wild horses". If you like U2, then make sure you listen to this one.
